Prince Albert

Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (1819-61) was the husband of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom. He came from a small German state whose ruling family was related to many European royals, and Victoria was his first cousin. The Queen came to rely heavily on his advice, and their marriage was a happy one. Albert's death at the age of just 42, most likely from typhoid fever, left the Queen grief-stricken and she withdrew from public life for many years
