At Home with the TIVOL Team - Part 3

While we are all getting a little stir crazy, we know there is a light at the end of the tunnel and we'll all make it through!

We have a few more sales associates this week that have been making the most of their time at home, and we wanted to share their stories.

At home with Kathryn Holmboe -

While at home, I have been making my way through Barefoot Contessa's cookbooks. Most of my co-workers already know I love cooking and baking! With all of this free time, I am learning how to make dishes that I might have been too intimidated to tackle during a normal work week. And if it doesn't turn out tasty, there's always Postmates!

I recently made Ina Garten's Filet of Beef Bourguignon. If you want a recipe that will impress your fellow quarantiners, this one sounds impressive, but is very delicious, and simple to make. You can find the recipe here.

I miss all of my friends, family and co-workers. I look forward to seeing everyone again soon!

My family and I have been spending a lot of time outside enjoying the spring weather - riding bikes, taking our dog Sunny for long walks, and building evening fires in the backyard. We keep in touch with grandparents, friends and family through Zoom and FaceTime.

The idea of juggling the girls’ schoolwork and my career was a bit daunting at first, but the school district and all those who work there have been truly amazing. These teachers and administrators deserve a huge amount of gratitude from the community. The leadership at TIVOL has been innovative as ever in supporting our team amidst constant change, while simultaneously serving our clients. I’m very proud to work for this group that I consider a second family.

While this time is uncertain and very surreal to most everyone, it has really given us a great opportunity to spend more time with those we love. For me, that’s my two wonderful girls, from whom I’ve learned so much these last few weeks, and my husband, who is our rock.

Stay safe, Kansas City! We will get back to “normal” soon, hopefully with a greater appreciation for life and understanding of what matters most. Community.

At home with Lisa Lyddon -

Our days are flying by with school work, cooking, cleaning, working out and little projects around the house.   am also working from home to stay in touch with my wonderful clients and friends.

My friends know I love exercise. I try to mix up the workouts! I am doing personal training from wellFIT and virtual Yoga with my friend Mel who is teaching from Chicago. It's great to feel like we are really all in this together! My daughter and I are also walking and biking - anything to get outside when the sun is shining.

I don't pretend to be a culinary genius. Grilling is really what I like to do! We try to eat healthy; however, baking has become part of my vocabulary.

One thing that my daughter and I have always told each other is to stay humble and kind. We also feel this time has reminded us who we are and to be grateful for what we have.

We miss everyone! Be safe, and stay healthy!!

At home with Matthew True -

Mornings are the best! Tom and I really enjoy music, so we’ve made a habit of waking up together each morning and listening to records while we have our coffee. Tapestry by Carole King seems to be our favorite. Tom has been vacuuming the carpet daily because he likes the pattern it makes in the carpet. It’s okay though, soon we won’t have any carpet left and I can stop tip toeing around the house. Needless to say, the house is clean and organized.

I’ve been getting some exercise in with a new dance routine. Tom says I’m good at it, but I think he’s just being nice - I’ll let you be the judge the next time you stop by the store! We’ve been taking walks around a nearby lake and doing some hiking. We haven’t seen any tigers yet, but we did see a woman on a bike that looked like Carole Baskin.

During the day while I’m working from home, I’ll turn on the TV and watch reruns of the Tonight Show so I can hear the laughter of the audience. I’ve also done some baking. I made chocolate chip cookies just the other day, but I’m not sure where they all went.

Once a week we have movie night and order out from a local restaurant - we bought the Daniel Craig collection so we’ve been catching up on those. Other evenings we’ll take a car ride and explore different parts of the city. We have an ongoing Uno card game that I’m currently winning too! We spend a lot of time talking to our friends and family to keep us all connected. I look forward to seeing all of my clients and coworkers soon!

While we've been at home, my wife and I have been going on lots of walks, reading, and doing a ton of Spring cleaning. We're even trying to learn Spanish!

We've also been cooking a ton, and trying new Spring dishes.

  • Scallops & rice, with a homemade coconut/lemongrass/lime sauce, and tostones
  • Salmon with eggplant, bok choy, & mushrooms in oyster sauce. Here's the LINK for the egplant recipe!
  • Creamy Pea Soup from scratch with fresh peas

A reading I have found comfort in is Psalm 91:2.  It says “I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God: in him will I trust.”

When the weather is not cooperating, I read quite a bit! I am reading The Bible, and studying Malachi with my bible study! I am also really enjoying  A Gentleman in Moscow by Towels. You can’t put this one down! Another great book is Invisible Cities by Calvino. It’s a quick read, but a good one!

I am looking forward to seeing all of my friends and co-workers again!

From all of us at TIVOL, we hope everyone is staying healthy, safe, and sane! It is tough staying home for so long, but we'll get through this together!
